Hey all! Excited to run halloween again this year.

Realised the tricky thing about last year was that I wasn't familiar with / into the flavour, so I didn't do any, and I know that people all enjoy the flavour as well as the Madge/Sabrar SHENANIGANS

So with the discourse around ChatGPT, I'm going for AI Apocalypse theme. This is something I know to a decent amount of depth - like, Roko's Basilisk, The Metamorphisis of Prime Intellect, Crystal Society, Yudkowsky and Bostrom.

Unfortunately we're light on the Sabrar but he'll be in the wings making sure the setup isn't too... PIZZAZZ-y

Design philosophy:
- Should be fun for the players
- I want everyone to have a fun role (i.e. avoid vanilla)
- I want to be able to tell a coherent story in the flavourtext without players feeling I'm outing their role (i.e. I want to be able to say that ChatGPT and The Terminator teamed up to delete HAL's source code)
- Intend to be no bastardry
- Hard line against cults, resurrection, and listeners

So, sign up, and post publically in the thread the following:

1. If there's anything that you particularly want/don't want included (like do you hate mafia-aligned roleblockers for some reason??)

2. If there's any character(s) who are AI or AI adjacent that you particularly want to play as (otherwise I'm happy to choose for you)

3. How deep you go down the AI rabbithole (feel free to choose one from, from least rabbithole to most: "I am not even aware what a computer is" / "I have seen a few popular films about AI" / "I have read or watched moderately obscure scifi content" / "I have heard of Yudkowsky and Bostrom and their ideas" / "I waste all my time on LessWrong and related communities" / "I am literally traumatised you mentioned Roko's Basilisk above")


Feel free to do a conditional signup - e.g. "I will not be able to play after mid-November because I will be in a yurt with no internet", "I have low activity until Mid October". This is a slow enough mafia community that the start time is flexible.

No preference on the character or role im assigned and prefer totally randomly assign games

I realised there should be, like, a list.

Very familiar with AI fiction and have a decent familiarity with modern "AI" from a technical standpoint (chatgpt and the like are not actually AI the way we understand it, they're sophisticated modeling programming that's predicting what "should" be there based on the associations it makes in training data).

Although I have no idea what my activity level will be like. But I love you guys and if I'm going to do an annual game this is it.

3) familiar with less wrong and ai alignment problems. The alignment strategy I explained to zen in broad strokes a few years ago is the cutting edge strategy now.

Bluelock is totally not a fake account that is secretly going to be played by chatGPT and that Madge asked Sev to approve for the game, post their name in parentheses so she could ask if it's an actual player, and then have Sev respond with this message as a hint. No I'm not being sarcastic, why would you think I'm being sarcastic? I (Seven) said it's totally NOT the case right!?????

I expect we'll start at the beginning of October - the setup and roles need to be finalised and that's the hardest part. Signups are still open. Hopefully Bluelock will be approved by then?
