Title text: There's a heated debate over whether the big island of Tierra del Fuego should qualify for membership.

I know it's just a joke, but I have no objection to people from across the world being brought into contact with each other for silly, arbitrary reasons. I mean, look where I'm posting this!

Things started going south for CIBADM when Madagascar tried to join, arguing that north being top was just a cartographical convention and it too dangles awkwardly off a nearby mainland. This was rejected, so Madagascar convinced Japan, Cuba and the British isles to create their own Alliance of Islands Close to a Bigger Landmass
