Seeing as it is just a conjugation of an existing word, I do not see the problem.

-er isn't one of those ones you can just put on any verb, in things like Scrabble, not like a plural -s and things like that.

Definition 4, Section 2 defines -er as:
a suffix serving as the regular English formative of agent nouns, being attached to verbs of any origin (bearer; creeper; employer; harvester; teacher; theorizer).

The given example of theorizer does not appear on Dictionary.com as a defined word, and instead redirects to theorizer on Thesaurus.com, which in turn redirects to theorize on Dictionary.com.

Per their own example and formatting of the website, funder is a valid word.

Having a well-defined dictionary site is supposed to stop arguments about what counts as a word. If this was Scrabble then all that would matter was whether the word was on the list, not what the definitions of any of the words were.
