If that's the last ape, then what am I seeing coming this way (in a few posts)? Another illusion?
(Do bookends count as apes? And palindromes count as frogs and bookends, feathers and frogs count as apes, etc.?)

I would say bookends like this are a subset of apes. The four-digit paldinorms we've had are definitely frogs and all of them are clearly bookends. I'm more reluctant to count a feather or a frog as an ape, though, for some instinctive reason.
