I mean, I've been not watching plenty of things for *mumble* years already.

I'm old enough to remember that meme, at least.

I don't think I was aware of it when it was still popular.

It's one of the memes that's early enough I knew about it from people talking about it offline.

I guess "the game" would be similar for me.

I also heard about "the game" offline, and thought for a while it had originated with one of my classmates (or his friend or something).

(In fact, "the game" is the reason I started reading xkcd, because my math teacher mentioned that it had a strip saying that we had won the game.)

Hmm, I wonder how I discovered xkcd...

Memes I remember first hearing offline:
• Badger badger badger (saw on someone else's computer)
• All Your Base, Someone Set Us Up The Bomb (people quoting it at a computer camp I went to; didn't realize they were from the same thing at first)
• Trogdor (same)
• Numa Numa (people playing the song at said computer camp, probably a different year)
• The Game (learned about it from a classmate, thought it was just a thing at my school at first)
• Over Nine Thousand (not sure about this one, but I think I did hear people quoting it at my school)
• Rickrolling (even less sure, but I'm pretty sure I heard someone talk about it at school at some point)

Also there was a site that was something like losethegame dot com and that might have been the first time I heard the term "meme"?

Also I think my first encounters with the word "meme" were in the cultural-analog-to-gene sense rather than the internet joke sense.

I definitely first heard it in the internet joke sense.
