Re: General meta thread
Hi from neither the US nor Europe.
Found the file I'd been last using as an avatar, which is convenient. It's 9.5KB so 6 definitely would have been too small. Thanks for fixing that.

Ramen chef?
the domain name here is "ramenchef.net".
What's the story behind this?
Who is the ramen chef?
What does it has to do with xkcd or forums?

The Snide Sniper is also known as RamenChef on other websites. That's all I know.

Re: General meta thread
Sometimes when I click a thread's unread post link, it jumps to the bottom of the page where the unread posts begin rather than the first unread post itself. Anybody else have that issue?

For me it seems to do that if the first unread post is within the last 3 or 4 posts.

Should I enable quick reply board-wide? Anybody have any thoughts on that?
If I disappear from the forum, I can still be reached via the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page.

Re: General meta thread
Okay, I've enabled it board-wide.
Also, the first ban on the forum goes to gymmeri, a russian spambot that evidently couldn't tell that it was on the moderation queue because it kept trying to post.

Re: General meta thread
Heh, the moderation queue proves its worth!
Re: General meta thread
Heh, remember the "Post here and get banned" thread that ocasionally caught spambots?
Re: General meta thread
I notice that "add attachments to posts" seems to be on for all users in all locations.
You may wish to adjust that, as the hosting volume could get quite high.
ETA:
I've been at the bottom of a page and seen quick reply, sent off a reply only to realise too late that there were further pages I hadn't yet read, and I was actually responding to a post 50-something replies ahead of where I thought I was.

Re: General meta thread
Yeah, that's an issue I sometimes run into on forums with this feature. It'd be nice if it was only on the last page.Suzaku wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 2:50 am Is it possible to enable this only if you're on the final page of a thread?

Re: General meta thread
small nitpick but some users's profile pictures (including me lol) being a lot bigger than others causes some posts by those users to be unusually big (compare this post to other posts in this thread with a smaller pfp)- any way to change that? not a big deal

I could reduce the avatar size limit, but existing avatars would be unaffected, so I would have to either leave them be or manually change/remove oversize avatars.

I think different sizes of avatars allows more personality..

Are you able to increase the inbox/outbox size for PMs? Modding a mafia game is going to be a pain with only 50.

Re: General meta thread
Yeah, 50 messages does seem a little small. I'd just left it at the default setting; I've disabled the limit now.

Re: General meta thread
I don't know how they appear to anyone else, but to me, the spoiler buttons appear just as plain text (they're still clickable). Is there any way of making them look like e.g. the old forum spoiler buttons (or at least something that stands out more).

Yes that's how they appear to me too. I don't quite remember how they used to look though. Was it a spoiler button you pushed maybe?

Spoiler: [button]Show[/button], I believe
and I think it might have had a different background, like the quotes? (unless that was only on Subsilver)

Re: General meta thread
I came here to request this too! It makes the spoilers hard to see.
It doesn't have to be identical to the old way but something that doesn't look like plain text. I did a google search and while I don't personally understand phpBB it looks like there's a variety of different code snippets you can put in for different results.
I believe all we want is something that looks appreciably different from the surrounding text, as the current spoiler blends in a lot.

Re: General meta thread
I'll see if I can find some styling that fits in with the prosilver theme. phpBB has a few button styles I could try putting on it, but one problem is that the clickable area takes up the entire line (probably because I'm using details/summary).
