Hmm... okay.

My working theory is that the third JoaT is mafia. Probably they targeted Adum with the kill and did something elsewhere. I suspect Wam's Watcher result is a real action, which to me implies that Wam is not likely part of the mafia. Wam's role is also crazy powerful and I think the lack of loud modifiers is interesting and suggestive. I think he must have at least some of the powers he says he does because otherwise claiming will at best spare him elimination for one day. Balance of probabilities says Wam is some sort of independent role. Maybe Unjester since Sabrar/Madge seem to like that one.

I think it is interesting that the "publishing cop", whoever they are, allowed their result to be discounted so easily. That player must have known or at least strongly suspected that their result was a forgery. Possibly they are loud/insane and held off claiming anything once they saw Town had resolved things. For similar reasons to Wam, this player is probably not aligned with killing mafia as there is no reason to target Adum with a kill and a forge a result against him.

They had a public targeting of Adum. Same logic you used for Wam. They wouldn’t have targeted him and killed him in the same breath.

Sorry, phone posting...

Wam actually name dropped the Publishing Cop, there is no way he would know the actual name of a role if he was making up his action.
This is a smart point and gives JC town points JC should not be the Elim toDay, that said, I'm gonna reference this post.

However, look at this:
Seven wrote: Tue Nov 12, 2024 5:30 pm It’s something of that sort. Going further would be using metadata imo which I’m not comfortable with.
I think Seven knows what I'm getting at and is gonna refuse to answer further but not much more time in the day.

"Loud" doesn't actually mean "gets posted to everyone by the mod". "Loud" means "the target knows who targeted them".

"Publishing" is the actual modifier that means "everyone gets told about their actions".

I think this makes it makes gambiting about it more possible because a smart player could either already know that "publishing" is the actual modifier for what happened and hope people not realizing it helped the claim or research it on mafiascum's wiki like I did, because it reads like into we don't know but we actually do know it.

Based on Seven's reaction, I think Seven is a "publishing" Jack of all trades. Or their role description says publishing, or the like.

I don't think every rolename conveys mechanics, but this provides a plausible alternative explanation for how he knew "publishing cop" if it was a fakeclaim and me and Santy discussed suggesting a third JOAT based on public actions.
My Loud power works explicitly how you claim a Publisher should work.

Is that two JOATs for scum and one for town, or going back to my idea where in multiball world there's one for each faction?

I think one scum, one Town (Seven), and possibly one indy (Wam).

Yes, they have a public targeting of Adum. They wouldn’t have this public result from the night kill.

It looks like every ability that has "publishing" effect is called "loud". So it sticks out like a sore thumb and we're not sure why.

Nevermind checked op again. They specifically targeted Adum so yeah they had to use an ability on him. Frankly I think they used Doc, even though Adum had a BP.

Was catching up when I posted that, but I suspect that they have neither, thus not getting the role modifier name correct

Hmm... you're right. That shouldn't be from the night kill.

It might be that both results are you.

One of the results is your loud modifier. The other may be a loud tracker or similar that also targeted you.

There’s not really much to read into Publishing Cop. There’s at least two people with the Publishing modifier.

That’s up to them to claim.

Reading carefully, FWIW, I think publishing puts the result in the thread, whereas loud puts the target and/or action in the thread.

It would be the opposite according to the wording of my role PM. My PM says specifically that targets and night results will be published by loud modifier. It does not specifically say the name of the action itself will be published, tho that should be more or less obvious from the result returned give how those are usually phrased
