There's a song by British band Busted called "Who's David" where the lyrics rhyme "saw" with "door", which works in a standard British accent, but the band put on faux-American accents when they sing, so they end up having to pronounce "saw" as "sore" just to make the rhyme work.

I think that sort of thing doesn't usually feel like it rhymes for me even when done in the correct accent, since my brain tries to correct for the missing R and hears "saw" and "sore" as different.

(I think I remember experiencing something like that at some point. I'd have to hear an example to confirm.)

(also saw-sore doubly doesn't work in my dialect, because I have the cot-caught merger, so the vowel is also completely different)

That merger is part of how I imagine American accents anyway, I think.
