103 - vanishing water

Note 2 :
When the Titanic bow hit the sea floor, it was moving at almost exactly the same speed as when it struck the iceberg three hours earlier. (This is not quite a coincidence.)
Why is this?

It probably has to do with drag, the shape of the boat, and the power of the Titanic's engines.
