Yeah my current read on this situation is I don't think Teh Bubblez's defensiveness at early day 1 votes is inherently scummy, but I also don't think Mak's doubling down is either. It feels like town butting heads but I'd love to hear more before really settling on that. Gotta vote somebody and all that and we have two pages of info (and not even every player yet).

And tbh, the longer I think of it, heuristically_alone's early finger of suspicion is almost more suspicious to me than any of the voting-casting aspersions with less attachment than a vote but more oomph than musing.

So for now I'm gonna

Vote: heuristically_alone

but keep aware of the current conflict.

Also ahippos return vote is more returning a handshake than anything substantial.

lol, I took the vote as like a handshake or a high five! It would be rude to not reciprocate! Random voting is how old mafia forum cohorts show affection, right?

I mean like 13 years for mafia or any kind of forum or post by post game, sooner for faster paced way less deductive virtual social deduction games. I'd ask why but only if you promise to bake me instead bc frying makes me break out.

(I mean I assume you're asking for like: do we have meta reads on each other)

How could ahippo have an answer to the question of "why did I think something"?

I feel that you're trying to "gotcha" in case you've cracked some big secret about the two of us in this game, but one person correctly reading somebody's post isn't sus lol

The audacity and injustice of such a vote! Have you not considered that they already had a vote so why would I place a second vote on a player during the RVS phase?

Disagree. scum!Sabra would want to convey he is as excited as possible even if he doesn't feel so.

Feeling comfortable with BF based on his analysis of Bop's RV and getting down to business. Bop over-rationalizing their RV may be due to not being familiar with the xkcd RVS paradigm.

I will never be comfortable with Sabrar again until he's flipped, whichever way that happens.

I think Mak feels lean town at this point.

I’m here! For everyone that doesn’t know me, I am in Southern California and I don’t play during work hours. I usually post once a day on weekdays at about this time, and I am available most times on weekends. I will try to be online near deadline but I can’t guarantee it if deadline falls when I am at work.

Oh boy, Adum gave us a confirmation phase! He must be super impressed by my renowned confirmation post analysis.

Sabrar – The format and content is acceptable. His is the first post, and his unstated but implied enthusiasm is noted. Sabrar likes playing as town, so I have a good first impression.

Bop – Hi Bop, welcome to the forum! I do not know what to make of your early enthusiasm, since I know nothing about you yet. Neutral, for now.

TehBubblez – Hi Tehbubblez, welcome to the forum! Your confirmation post is non standard and therefore not acceptable, but I do not know enough about you yet to determine if this is alignment addictive. Neutral for now.

EGW – Completely conforming. NAI.

Wam – Completely conforming. I suspect Wam does not want to draw my attention. Suspicious.

Makhaira – See Wam (above). Suspicious.

LaserGuy – Is thumbing his nose in my face, but it is being very cautious about it. Slight scum lean.

ahippo – Welcome back, it has been a while (Diablo Mafia, February 2017). His confirmation post is acceptable. In Diablo Mafia, I did not do a confirmation post analysis, I did my celebrated setup spec, so I don’t know if ahippo is conforming by nature or if he is trying to avoid my scumdar, like Wam and Mak are doing. Neutral pending more information.
Pre-post edit: Scum lean for posting twice in the confirmation phase. You had your chance.

BoomFrog – There is no way I am going to get an alignment read from anything BoomFrog posts until at least halfway through D1.

Ode to the Yellow Lab and Her Frog

A yellow Lab with eyes so bright,
She watches him in soft moonlight.
A frog, so green, with leaps so spry,
He catches her gaze as he jumps high.

From grassy banks, she softly sighs,
Admiring him with wistful eyes.
Her love, a quiet, gentle song,
A bond from afar, where hearts belong.

She dreams of him in peaceful grace,
Yet knows their worlds will never trace.
His friend, his admirer from afar,
His loyal dog beneath the stars.

This poem was written by ChatGPT,
For a Lab’s heart and her frog so free.

Madge – Madge wouldn’t be so obvious as scum. Town lean.

moody7277 – Acceptable and within his standard meta. NAI.

bessie – A very shocking non-standard post. Though I guess it is not completely unexpected, as she would never let Madge get away with outshining her. [Note that I don’t think bessie succeeded in this goal.] Town lean.

heuristically_alone – Completely NAI, as Heury is handsome and charming as any alignment.

JC_DADDY25 – Very comprehensive. Town lean.

Freddino18 – I will need to think about this.

Back in a little while with the daily bark.

Daily bark!

Sabrar – First post of the game. I like the continued enthusiasm and attention to technical detail.

Bop wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:59 pm I've got no thoughts regarding the first vote Sabrar got in, as first post voting barely even counts. (Until like Day 4 when suddenly it makes sense retroactively on my paranoid conspiracy board)
This is similar to my philosophy of the game. I often say that everything I need to solve the game is in the D1 content, if only I were smart enough to see it.

TehBubblez wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:28 pm As for D1 stuff, I'm never good with it :?
I know pretty much nobody here soooooo I'll vote closer to deadline lol
We don’t know you either, so let’s get acquainted. How long have you been playing mafia? What do you like about the game? And what are your preferred pronouns? I’m bessie (she/her), so named for the Labrador Retriever in my profile pic. She was my best friend and one of a kind. My current dog is Hoku, and he runs on rocket fuel, so most pics I have of him are a blur. I started playing mafia on xkcd in late 2013 and never played anywhere else until we lost the old forum. And I am sooooo happy to have this new place!
Pre-post edit: Partially answered in this post.

boomfrog wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:22 pm Aww, I'm town. Oh well, it'll still be fun.

Wam wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:30 pm Anyway this is all moot as bessie will solve the game with her confirmation post analysis. As this time the mods put one in. Looking at you madge and sabrar.
Your are right to fear me. I normally would not be distracted by a futile attempt at flattery, except that you rightly called out Madge and Sabrar for their disgraceful and deliberate omission of a confirmation phase in their Halloween game.

Sabrar wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:54 pm Hey, you can't blame me, Madge was the one making those decisions. And you can't blame her either as she is perfect.
Like usual, your primary focus in every game is protecting Madge.

Bop wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 7:03 pm And yeah I more read "claiming not to vote until later in the day" from Teh Bubblez as a neutral behavior that's easy to read as scummy when you're actively looking for it(which to be fair is I guess the exact point of mafia as either faction) but I don't think it's sus all on its own.
I disagree with your reasoning. Noting because I may want to return to this later.

boomfrog wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 7:48 pm  Obviously you have no reason to think I'm town yet. The pocket comes later. ;)
What do you mean “no reason to think I’m town”? You claimed it.

Instead of trying to be clever by alluding to your role and/or alignment with a cleverly chosen profile pic when 13 of us are flavor blind anyway, how about giving us your thoughts on the game so far?
