And the results are in!
Congratulations to commodorejohn!!
I have to say I was a little surprised we had so few entries for this. I thought the drinking song was a little more universal.

Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
It doesn't make a difference, but technically the points Ling gave should all be 0.5 less than what you've put, as it's supposed to start from half of what the rest of us give for the top score, i.e. 3/2 = 1.5.
Anyway, congrats, john!

Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
Ahaha, excellent! Was a little surprised there weren't more entries, as well.
Anyhoo, 'tis the season and all, so the theme for this round is spooky/scary songs! Whether it's monsters, madmen, or just some piece with a creepy vibe, send it in and we'll have ourselves a little Halloween playlist! Deadline is the morning of Thursday, October 31st!

Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
How does that work, though - they didn't submit a song, so they rank all four entries. Does the song they rank last get 0 points? (I based this on when I voted with no submission, and those scores were the same.)

Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
I've wondered this every time it comes up, but I've never found myself having to arbitrate in a round where it'd change the ranking.
Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
I think that's how we usually do it, certainly how I and my bodge excel sheet count.Suzaku wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 2:39 am How does that work, though - they didn't submit a song, so they rank all four entries. Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
It would never change the final rankings, because it would change every song's score by the same amount (0.5 * the number of non-submitters who voted), but I've always understood it to mean that the lowest-ranked song gets 0.

Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
The rules say half the score. So yes, the song they rank last would get 0, but yes, it doesn't really make a difference. I failed to spot it that last time.Suzaku wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 2:39 amHow does that work, though - they didn't submit a song, so they rank all four entries. Re: Song Contest (Reprise)
A stiff autumn breeze sends fallen leaves skittering across an empty street. A neglected sodium lamp buzzes ominously, flickering as it prepares to die. The Moon is just a thin sliver of light in the dark October night. A shiver runs up your spine as you hear a noise somewhere behind you - or was that only the wind...?

Congrats john!
Since Suzaku hosted the previous one, I'd propose that somi host next.
