great effort town, we made it a close game after a rough start. sorry I didnt lift more heavily as stump, not even sure I wouldve made the right call on madge/fred tbh I was really torn even over halfway thru a reread. freds fakeclaim really threw me off and I was really doubting my read on the slot because it was so unexpected lol

I really didn't want to go back on the claim, but I had the realization that for moody to vote for a vengeful pointed at the other player was always winning. Unfortunately, I had to open myself up to Madge in order to have a chance at Moody not voting me.

This is one of the reasons why fake claiming as Town is generally seen as negative utility. You can sometimes lock yourself in positions where retracting your claim, or just your claim existing and throwing off the logic of the solve, is detrimental to Town. If you'd just claimed Vanilla, you would have been in a much stronger position in endgame (and I don't think it would have made it any more/less likely that you reach endgame). At end of D5 I was definitely considering writing a post saying that the correct play in the event of my death was to eliminate you in LYLO and let you take your shot to win.

I was thrilled, especially because I know how capable you were of getting out of it. Great play, I knew I shouldn't try and read you directly here, I had to go off PoE and Somi's posts.
