Also, don't want any hammers ATM because we still haven't finished the seer claums, it's 5 to lynch and right now the votes are:

Re: Sorcerer's 11 Mafia - xkcd edition - Day 2
This question was for Fred. His post implies he needs my flip, and you will go to the top of his list. I’m guessing I won’t because I’ll be dead.Dooplissity wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 5:48 am you don't need to be dead - pj and maven not CCing you is confirmation itself
So, if I don’t flip for a while how are you going to sort me and Dooplissity? Will we both remain in neutral territory?Freddino18 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 10:55 pmNo, generally neutral, if you flip scum Doop is most likely scum.
How does my moody claim affect your read of moody?

If Bessie is unCCed, we also need the Martyr to claim before day's end so they don't get investigated. Nobody hammer before that.AdumbroDeus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 12:27 am Also, don't want any hammers ATM because we still haven't finished the seer claums, it's 5 to lynch and right now the votes are:

Ya, that makes sense in this context, they'll die either way toNight so that means an extra investigation.
But ONLY if we get through everyone and Bessie is un'cc'd
Also, droop you're pretty

I'd rather wait another day before Martyr claims. We're more likely to get a vanilla night kill still.
If you think tough men are dangerous, wait til you see what weak men are capable of.

nah, it's the same thing I was talking to egw about - I want to prune lines of conversation that are less productive imo so there's more focus on the things I care about

What about J?
I might not be on before deadline, so I'm going to switch my vote. Assuming the others don't cc, I'm treating Bessie as confirmed and her claims as true.
Unvote, Vote Maven

i appreciate your point of view, but being patronizing about it isn't going to convince me it's correct from a mafia theory standpoint. we can have that discussion if it's truly that important to you, but again I think there are better lines to pursue.
Speaking of mafia theory - don't push the unclaimed Maven to L-1. Derphammers are real and devastating. No reason not to unvote.

"I don't think the question you're asking is good so I'm gonna cut it off" is EXTREMELY patronizing. And you've done it to several people.Dooplissity wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 2:18 pm i appreciate your point of view, but being patronizing about it isn't going to convince me it's correct from a mafia theory standpoint. we can have that discussion if it's truly that important to you, but again I think there are better lines to pursue.

I don't have that much of an issue with people being merely patronizing but you've done it before on a potentially fruitful line of questioning against the person we now know is the sorcerer.
And there's not really much else going on because we're stuck waiting on inactives.
But your point to unvote now to prevent and accidental hammer I'd valid.

Anyways I have little faith in maven and J coming finish the CC/not CC chain.
I'm gonna be at the beach today with really bad reception, but I'll do my best to be there for the deadline.

Two is not several, but that's not really relevant anyway. Fundamentally, my concern is advancing the gamestate in a way that I think is the most productive. I try to be as polite about it as possible, though.AdumbroDeus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:11 pm "I don't think the question you're asking is good so I'm gonna cut it off" is EXTREMELY patronizing. I don't have much of an issue with it either - the reason I mentioned it was to note that you're not making a logical argument against what I believe to be correct play, you're just trying to convince me I'm wrong via emotional methods. If you want to keep doing that, I don't mind, but I'm telling you it will not be effective.AdumbroDeus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:11 pm I don't have that much of an issue with people being merely patronizing but you've done it before on a potentially fruitful line of questioning against the person we now know is the sorcerer.
As for what happened with Somi, I maintain it advanced the gamestate at very little cost. We were basically still in RVS, and knowing how Somi would clarify it being a joke isn't really worth a lot to us. The interaction between EGW and I, and the comments made on that, got us to a productive place.
Okay - as I'm sure you know, as mafia communities get more mature, they tend to discourage question sniping. This is a generally beneficial thing. It lets people develop reads on specific individuals more and it stops mafia from shielding each other or buddying up to town. But like anything that is a good general heuristic, it's not a hard and fast rule. Adhering to it dogmatically isn't the point. You can see the same thing in the heuristic "town doesn't lie". It's usually true, and if people don't know what to do, it presents a good default option. That said, there are times and places (especially with an experienced Town) where you'll see Town go against it because it's optimal to do so.AdumbroDeus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:11 pm And there's not really much else going on because we're stuck waiting on inactives.

Re: Sorcerer's 11 Mafia - xkcd edition - Day 2
No, I illustrated your defense of your behavior was hypocritical. Ninjaing questions is inherently patronizing, no matter how polite you are about it. Sometimes it's necessary, but you're overdoing it.
For Som, it was just past RVS and claiming they were treating it as still RVS was clearly the intended defense if questioned on it, but that doesn't mean it would hold up unfer scrutiny. But you took the wind out of the sails.
For this, there's basically nothing else going on as we're waiting for a claim.
Neither advanced the gamestate.
One of the reasons why not ninjaing questions is good is because sometimes people pick up on things that you don't. Even if you think they're inferior player.
That's why I let EGW get his answer from you even though I thought you had already sufficiently answered.
So, do me a solid and at least be more cautious about your use of it.
