That is the image, it's showing the alt text.

Interesting. When I quote madge's post I just see the emoji in the comment box. So madge just posted an emoji and the page is showing me a broken image but then showing the emoji after it anyway?

When I type an emoji it seems to replace it with an image of the emoji, but with the emoji as alt text.
<- I typed an emoji, appears as <img alt="" class="emoji smilies" draggable="false" src="//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f431.svg">. So if the image is broken, it'll show the emoji from your system font instead (since it's the alt text). Looks like your browser also shows the broken image icon next to the emoji.

<- I assume this shows as "[broken image icon] Image" on your browser, whereas mine just shows "Image", and if the image existed it'd just show the image.

yes i did a brown heart. i am rotating between all the heart colours when i do heart emoji because my humanhusband got so confused when i sent a few purple and blue hearts to him, he wanted to know how eomen choose their heart emoji colours, so now i'm going to use every colour in rotation

brown is a very cat/rat friendly oclour though as it's the colour of many of their fur!
