I've been asking for this for years. No more rubber band effect. Let nature be its own thing and I go along for the ride.

Re: Senate Passes Bill to Get Rid of Daylight Savings Time
Oh...!
Getting rid of the clock changes is definitely for the best, the only question is whether to settle on permanent DST or permanent standard time. Permanent DST will mean even darker mornings in the winter; but on the other hand, it already tends to be light out by like 5am in the summer (at least where I live), and permanent standard time would make that even earlier...

I'd prefer permanent DST, but I feel like standard time would be more likely.
If we switched to permanent DST, Arizona would need it's own definition of time zone since it would permanently be dis-synced from the rest of the mountain region.

Well, permanent DST is what the Senate just voted for.
Instinctually, I think I agree that I'd rather have permanent DST. I already have a problem with waking up too early and not getting back to sleep, and having the sun up at 4am in the summer would make that even worse. But apparently a lot of sleep experts are saying the opposite, that permanent standard time is better: https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness ... h-effects/

Permanent standard time is also objectively more correct

Re: Senate Passes Bill to Get Rid of Daylight Savings Time
So, for anyone who hasn't heard, the latest update on this is that there is no update. The House never voted on it, still hasn't scheduled a vote on it, and most likely, nothing will happen with it and we'll stick to changing the clocks twice a year for the foreseeable future. Almost everyone agrees that changing clocks twice a year is stupid, but no one--including members of Congress--can agree on which time to stick to permanently.

A prisoner's dilemma then. Or maybe a game of chicken.

But if we don't change clocks twice a year, how will we know when to change the batteries in our smoke detectors?

Personally I prefer when time to stay how it is between spring and fall.
