So I have hardly anything to go off of thus far, but this in particular stuck out to me:

I'm active and I have some experience, so I can play decently as town, but my scum game is mostly non-existent.

Is anyone actually able to verify this? I think it might help in untangling the whole bessie/osie deal?

Osie and I have been scum together, and ive played against scum!Osie before.

Hes p capable of like, posting and keeping up momentum, and I think his tactical game should be pretty respectable as scum. But his towngame is sharper and has a lot more nuance.

Interesting that Osie asked about my comment on Madge’s confirmation post, but he was not the least bit curious as to why I FoS’d him in the same post , and gave no reasons. He has engaged with me, but not as to why I find him suspicious. Though he has prodded for information as to why I find Madge suspicious.

I don’t know that ignoring when someone FoSs you is totally alignment indicative, but I do feel it is suspicious. I am a proponent of that when you vote, you should give a reason, and I find it odd that someone would accept a out-of-nowhere FoS (not quite a vote) without wanting to know why. I felt at the time that Osie could be scum, and that he didn’t question me on my FoS because he didn’t necessarily want to discuss what I may have found scummy about him. So the suspicion I had for Osie at that time has since been magnified by his reaction

I kind of have a backwards opinion on this?; i think scum are p likely to feel jarred by being called out on being scum (reactionary guilty conscience mindset) where I think town are generally more motivated to just ignore stuff that doesn't really help them?

This is probably backwards for newer players who err towards the whole "how dare u scumread me" vibe but as soon as someone has enough experience playing scum, I think they're significantly more likely to 1) be drawn to react to someone calling them scum due to subconscious guilt + 2) see a way to try pick someone apart - scum looove feeling like they're right.


I guess I'm wondering if there's anything else to what you were getting at? I dont think we agree at all about the way osie is ramping up. I think he's gotten more and more perplexed without showing any real sign of guilt which I'd associste with a town mindset before a scum one :/

Just to be clear about these posts - they're half jokes. They're also both true.

Everyone is a great wagon early d1, even the most obvtown of all obvtown is a great wagon choice early d1. Wagons rise and fall and people react and so the game is played. WMU is also specifically a player who I am keen to see in the spotlight d1 because I think if she goes a few phases without being excited by the game she's a lot harder to read.

The second one was more of a joke. But still, wagons on me mean y'all expect me to defend myself and that's effort :(

What would be the dammage if you would answer? Would you be pocketed? Would you give scum possibility to be active for one question? Thinking that at game start scum are only 1/3 from players, the possibility that you receive questions from town is double than receive them from scum. You didn't have any read for me so why waste the opportunity to sort me somehow?
What is important is what the other player, me in this case, is doing with your answers. And you didn't give any answer.

Town has 2 important things to do. One is to show themselves towny and the other is to make reads to solve the game.
You didn't do any of these.

Do you have a different opinion on town play? Explain it to me.

I understand where you are coming from, it's tempting to rely on (mostly) reliable results from investigative roles. But even with the high power levels of this game, the game balance is set so that we will lose if we don't take calculated risks.

Also, there is an incredibly high amount of information to gain from looking at how people shape up for the serious votes. We will never figure out who is working together if we don't vote to eliminate people every game day.

You should vote for someone. Even just a random vote from a townie dilutes scum's ability to manipulate the vote. Trust your gut and vote. You learn more by doing.
