i'm terrified because it's going to be like 42 degrees (CELCIUS) on xmas day and 43 the next day. this isn't fitting the theme of the posts i just wanted to whinge

Oh wow that's... higher than the record for hottest ever temperature in my country, so I can't begin to imagine.

42 is a standard hottest day of the year but 43 is ugh and it's only going to be 27 overnight so it's horrible

like on one hand i'm glad i'm already booked in at an indian restaurant for lunch that day on the other hand i wonder how well the aircon in the resto will be able to keep up

Conversely I don't think I could handle a cold Christmas! I lived in Europe 6 months and I remember it being like 6 degrees in November just before I moved home again and I was ready to die

i prefer cooler weather but not 6 degrees. like, 15-25 is my sweet spot. which according to the internet is 59-77 in freedom units.
